Hi! I am Christina thecoffeelady around cyberland.
I grew up in central Indiana. I am your typical Midwestern girl.
My father was a refrigeration technician at a local dairy.
My mom was a stay at home mom, typical of the 60’s.
One set of grandparents owned a farm in southern Indiana.
The other was shipbuilder during WW2 and later a factory worker.
I left home to join the Army at 19. By 21, I was a mom and the wife of a military man.
We spent our 20 years in New England, Okinawa, Hawaii and Florida.
I ventured out on my own a few years ago. I have most recently been involved in sales.
I currently live in a rural town in North Carolina.
About 2 years ago, I started a website to sell gourmet coffees. I am a coffee freak.
The Original Coffee Company sells high quality, small batch, fresh roasted coffees.
I can hardly drink Folgers anymore. I also have a blog, CoffeeCoffeeCoffee.
It started out as a marketing tool for the coffee site, but turned into a personal homesteading journal.
Why homesteading? We want to get back to a more simple way of life.
We have always gardened organically. We added chickens to our way of life.
Right now they provide eggs. When we are able to get a bigger place, we plan to breed for meat.
We also plan to add a dairy cow, a beef cow and pigs.
We have experimented with aquaponics, which is an amazing way to grow vegetables.
We would like to expand this operation to grow more of our food that way.
We also plan to use tilapia as the fish in the system, which will give us another food source.
We just added an apiary. The bees will pollinate the plants and provide honey.
These are the things that I blog about in CoffeeCoffeeCoffee.
I also have another blog, My World or Your World.
It is a photography blog. I love to snap a picture.
This gives me a place to do that.
Continuing on a personal note…..
I have 3 lovely children and 2 granddaughters.
I adore my family.
My daughter, Crystal, is married with 2 daughters and lives in Florida.
She is an amazing woman. She is a manager of a local Starbucks Coffee Shop.
My son, Brian, just graduated from UF with his Masters degree.
He will be heading off to South America with the Peace Corps this fall.
My baby son, Kyle, was just recently married, then deployed to Iraq.
He has about 9 months to go. I am anxious for him to return safely.
My Mom lives in Indiana still. She has recently battled breast cancer.
She has finished her chemo and radiation. So far so good.
My goal is be able to purchase a piece of land big enough to provide food and shelter for the entire clan.
Here are some photos for you to enjoy…..
Editor’s note
Christina just popped up out of no where many months ago and it’s been a pleasure ever since.
