Who’s Bingkee Coy?

ABOUT MYSELF:
I LOVE/HATE AMERICA
I’m an Asian/Polynesian/Hispanic immigrant who lives in the ‘burbs of the northeast of America. Migrated here almost 10 years ago with ginormous dreams of making it in America. I confess I believe and love God. The challenges He gave me were enough making me more grateful of where I am now. I am still struggling to make it in this great nation. Living a life for God doesn’t sound too much but it is quite a little bit difficult especially in a country which I love and hate at the same time—a nation terrified by so many fears and yet awed by others, a nation where God shows His extreme blessings and abundance yet only a few truly believe in and praise Him, a nation where He placed me to be for a purpose. So though, I feel alienated in this country at most times, at one time leading me to anguish and depression, I know this is the place where God wants me to be—for a great purpose.

Born, bred and educated in a tiny island-nation in the Pacific (which most Americans can’t locate), whose heritage is Hispanic, ethnic roots are Polynesian and education is American-influenced; a nation that is in union with its faith but divisive by its more than 70 different languages and over 450 dialects. Was an advertising copywriter, public relations professional, premium event organizer and former owner of a fashion modeling agency. Came to USA almost 10 years ago with only a suitcase and a tote bag. Worked in Uncle Sam’s land as a housekeeper, nanny, dry cleaner counter service person, sales clerk, teacher assistant, project officer and later advertising and marketing coordinator for a big news journal in the northeastern state. Married to an American man whose of Irish and French-Canadian descent, and spends most of my time at home, managing the household, working as administrative support for my husband’s musical career, copywriting,
blogging and networking online. After working in a newspaper, I felt that I didn’t belong in the US of A, somehow feeling too alienated. Soon, realizing the truth that I don’t fit well among the whites predominant in the place I live in, I had let the truth sink in that they were actually trying to fit me well enough to their limited and miniscule notion of a stereotyped “prejudiced race”. I was shoved into anxiety and a mild case of depression for years. Until I got my groove back, hearing God’s call that this “place I’m in where I don’t fit” is actually the place where He wanted me to be for an indefinite period of time. God wanted me to rise up to tell Americans what America is in the eyes of an inside observer, in the eyes of someone who acts like an “undercover”—someone who is not from them, but someone who lives among them.

I want to think I’m a very honest and open-minded person. I detest lies and deception and I’d rather tell you the truth than hide it from you. People call me very assertive that some people think I’m arrogant. I say how it is and sometimes I know I can be really frank. But I’m always seeking the Holy Spirit of God to help me tone myself down.

When you are my friend, I’m a sticker. Friendships to me are also expressions of love.

God is my life. I believe that we were given life to live for Him because that’s the only way to live.

ABOUT MY BLOG:

http://www.fliploveusa.typepad.com
I LOVE/HATE AMERICA

My blog was borne out of my “radical” and inquisitive mind pondering on thoughts and views about the life I live here in America. Being a naturalized citizen by marriage, I am a Filipino at heart.

My conservative and traditional upbringing sometimes cannot tolerate nor can comprehend the “norms” of what is considered acceptable in America’s society. I find them appalling, disgusting, mortifying, scary and uncomfortable.

Instead of just keeping it to myself, I want to see others know that these is occurring here in America. I want other Americans also to know that this is what other people think about their life and beliefs .

My blog is also of course about things I love in America. Afterall, my husband is American. So that’s the number one reason why I love America.
It also would tackle on news (but not political) , spiritual and Christianity, fashion and entertainment but that would be minimal. However, I try to talk about God in most of my posts.
Basically, it’s a blog to inform , inspire and make others think.

Editor’s note; This is one of the many features of this blog to bring all kinds of people from everywhere with all kinds of experiences. If you actually read the blog you will find there’s NO hate at all it’s an excellent expression of what it’s like to come to America.

I am also a Pacific Islander and guessing you might be from American Samoa or Western Samoa. :)

Although I was born and lived most of my life in Fiji Islands, I also have a deep feeling and sense of connection with USA.

Strangely enough, I am more patriotic to USA then to my own country. I always had a dream of coming to USA. I will certainly visit your blog and contribute my own opinions.
